NMU’s Superior Edge engages in international service project — The North Wind

This is an article I completed in conjunction with Northern Michigan University’s school newspaper, The North Wind. Superior Edge, an organization that rewards students for excelling in community service, citizenship, leadership and diversity, took students on a trip to New Zealand.

Winthrop Harbor Comprehensive Plan

Another article written for my internship about community plans for my hometown. I attended an open house for the plans and did extensive research on the plans themselves. Overall, I am proud of how the article turned out, especially the lead, because I thought I caught attention in contrast with the dry, but informative, subject matter.

Dorm life supports student mental health

This piece was my News Writing and Reporting final exam and was published in the summer edition of NMU’s student paper, The North Wind. I was assigned to write a trend article.

As my first possible published piece, I wanted to offer my unique perspective on a topic that . Being a part of Housing and Residence Life gives me a unique perspective on the impact of living in the residence halls during a student’s college experience.
